Research Interests
The gastrointestinal tract is one of the largest 'endocrine organs', containing a diffuse mosaic of single cell endocrine cells that regulate digestive function and influence satiety. I am particularly interested in understanding how the cholecystokinin cell, which secretes in response to dietary protein and fat, is able to directly detect these nutrients. One of the nutrient 'sensors' of interest is the oligopeptide transporter PepT1.
