Research Interests
I am interested in studying signaling cascades and their effects on disease. I am currently investigating the Na-K-Cl cotransporter of the blood brain barrier endothelium. Studies have shown that NKCC activity is up-regulated during ischemic events leading to edema formation and eventual brain damage. I am interested in the signaling pathways that up-regulate NKCC in this situation. I feel it is imperative to studies these pathways so we can develop new drug therapies for a disease that is difficult to treat with current methods.
