Research Interests
I am interested in investigating the neural and hormonal bases of anti-predator behavior in the California ground squirrel. I am comparing populations of California ground squirrels who share their habitat with rattlesnakes (snake-selected populations) and populations who have not coexisted with rattlesnakes for thousands of years (relax-selected populations). I am investigating potential differences in neural activity in the orbiofrontal cortex, the medial amygdala, the periaqueductal gray, and the bed nucleus of the stria terminalis in response to predatory exposure.
