I am interested in whether encountering a dead conspecific results in a change in behavior that alters exposure to risk and how these loud aggregations effect this change via physiology. Broadly, I am interested in communication and social interactions. What signals do animals use to communicate with one another and are these learned or innate? How do these signals affect the physiology of the organism thereby resulting in a behavioral response?
