Research Interests
My research interests are in animal communication and antipredator behavior, specifically in understanding the role of both intraspecific and intersepecific interactions in the evolution and maintenance of behavior. I am also interested in conservation. My dissertation research was on the function and evolution of olfactory camouflage in ground squirrels (Spermophilus). I graduated in August 2008 and have started a post-doctoral position with Prof. John Marzluff at the University of Washington. The project is a collaboration with Humboldt University in Berlin and will focus on the effects of urbanization on bird behavior and the potential for coevolution of human and bird behavior in urbanized environments.
